Thatch Elmer-Cowboy Thatch “The Bear River Buckaroo”
Thatch is an 11 year old Cowboy Poet from Bear River Wyoming. He is a student at North Elementary and his favorite subject is Reading. Thatch has been reciting Cowboy Poetry since he was old enough to speak a complete sentence. Thatch enjoys writing and reciting originals along with reciting the classics. He has been influenced by his Father, Grand Fathers, and family friend Don Proffit. Thatch has spent his 11 years listening to stories about ranch life as it used to be from his Great Grandpa who was a Cowboy all of his 88 years. Thatch enjoys riding his horse, roping and riding mini bulls throughout Wyoming, Utah and Idaho.
Thatch’s favorite time of year is spring because he loves to see the new baby lambs and calves and loves to go branding with family and friends.
Thatch is a co-recipient of the First annual “Rod McQueary/Sue Wallis” scholarship award which was presented to him at the 2014 National Cowboy Poetry gathering in Elko Nevada. He is also a published poet on and in the book “Cowboy Rhymes-N-Dreams of Other Times”, and is celebrating the release of his very first CD-“The First Go Round”. Thatch has performed at many gatherings including Heber Valley, Elko, Cache Valley and Rock Springs. He is also looking forward to being in Shoshone ID and going to Durango in October.
Thatch is excited about his new place in the Cowboy Poetry world and appreciates his new standing within the Cowboy Poetry family and how everyone has embraced him!!!
